| This setup incorporates a long angle entry off of the dam between the two ponds. The slim line at the entrance of the dam was a very tough discision making point for the dogs...nearly every dog slowed down to think about their line in the area. The memory mark was a long swim followed by a tough retrieve on a bird thrown in heavy cover across a channel...with the wind directly at the dog's back; no help. This is an advanced derby setup or a pair of marks to setup a long retired mark (which I did for the all-age dogs...the retired mark was throw on the hill at the end of the dam; the line was in the left pond exiting at the end of the pond behind the gunner on the dam). Dogs run on setups similar to this should be schooled on tough angle entries and staying off points. |
